South Korea aims to become leading e-learning country by 2010

The effort, based on the country's extensive high-speed Internet infrastructure, is to expand the everyday use of on-line learning that has great growth potential, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said. "E-learning opens up a new paradigm and permits education and training that can overcome time and space limitations which exist in traditional programs at schools and academies" a government official said. He said the focus of development will be on strengthening the country's competitiveness in this field, expanding everyday usage and creating new demand.
